• Etagère a-la Camille Gauthier & Paul Poinsignon

The author does

not like to repeat himself, but he has to. In English, translators (a-la google) do not know the translation for Etagère. They suggest Shelf and its derivatives. But the word is "Etagère," a diminutive and almost affectionate way of combining many floors (houses) into one word.  Etagère is usually used as a display case, to place china, room decor.

There are many variants of the execution of this particular Etagère.

The main one is probably the one presented at the Musée d'Orsay, Paris, France The museum states, quote: "Camille Gauthier & Paul Poinsignon. Acajou verni, façade sur pied et fronton ornés de motifs sculptés. H. 122,0 ; L. 55,0 ; P. 40,0 cm." However, there are many other similar pieces, of similar form, attributed among others to LOUIS MAJORELLE. For example, directly at the Villa Majorelle in Nancy  (there is also a "Majorelle Table Butomées", which our hands will also get to).

You should know that real, original Etagère by La Belle Époque masters always has 3 shelves -

or

Variants with four shelves are found only in the made of fiberboard (pressed paper) doll's furniture -

In any case, the Etagère shapes are pleasing to our eye and the image is long overdue for work.

We can do it.

It will be handmade furniture art nouveau furniture. We will offer a version made of beech, birch (which we manage to make products that are as similar to mahogany as possible) and oak. Of course, we will not make an exact copy - absolutely no need to make a "fake". For example, for the top of the front foot you can take as a basis this stylized mask -

Our Art Council approved - the bottom part will be made as the top of the front leg, and the top part as the back of the top shelf, it may turn out interesting -

But this is not dogma. There are many variations of other motifs, including floral motifs, for making the top of the back wall and the top of the front foot.

The dimensions of the piece will be like the prototype - H. 122,0 ; L. 55,0 ; P. 40,0 cm.

The price, of course, will not be 100USD. It will be much more. To be or not to be your order? - help in deciding.

Material - oak, beech or ash, depending on the circumstances and the choice of color.

You may ask - ha, it's a picture, but what will be the result?

We'll answer - in Russia, words are not thrown around, "said = done". That was an unfortunate example of the chair in the Musée d'Orsay (the drawbacks - uncomfortable angle of reclining the back, impossibility to change the upholstery, lack of ventilation in the back area, only one copy that is not for sale) and our answer - A&O graceful elegant Art Nouveau chair on the verge of Art Deco "Alexandrolovskaya Champagne Saucer with heel", which has no such disadvantages.
